Ready to put a little altitude in your summer?

No doubt about it, the season is in full swing in our North Carolina mountains. The July 4 weekend in Franklin saw the town crowded with visitors and returning summer folks, starting with our usual Friday afternoon “rush hour”. Which means you may have had to wait through an extra turn at our lights.

Even as early as May, our Main Street retailers and restaurant owners all over town had begun talking about encouraging business signs. People just can’t stay away from the mountains. And no wonder.

Whatever is happening in the wider world, our town and the spectacular landscape that enfolds it have a record not only of endurance, but of growing richer in their offerings because of that complex history. Every summer we are renewed.

One of our favorite signs of summer is the moment in July when the produce offered at our Saturday-morning Farmers Market multiplies. Blueberries are in. And now comes the mountain-grown tomatoes, the best in the land for my money.

The Farmers Market is a social scene as well as a shopping venue. And the optimism of this year’s summer season has been a topic of conversation among the regulars.

We know many of you share that optimism about Franklin and Sanctuary Village, because you tell us so. Pat and Samantha from Virginia have literally bought into that confidence. They recently closed on their Sanctuary Village lot and are looking forward to planning their new home and relocation to Franklin. So they’ll be helping us welcome more new neighbors. We hope that includes many of you.

The usual invitation stands. Come share the summer of 2011. Get the latest info about what’s happening with homes and lots in the Village via the contact info below. And if you’re looking for another good excuse for visiting Franklin, consider these upcoming events:

Sincerely,
