Sanctuary Communities Newsletter

Hi, friends:

Happy summer (almost)! Even though the season's official start date is another couple weeks away, we're celebrating in the North Carolina Mountains already. Summer in Franklin means the arrival of old friends and the return of favorite rituals like Saturday morning at the farmer's tailgate market and Saturday evening at "Pickin' on the Square".  It means keeping sweaters handy for the early chills and the cool evenings but breaking out the shorts for the warm afternoons. The spring rains greened up the mountains so beautifully the whole region seems to glow.

At Sanctuary Village, we marked the transition from spring to summer on Memorial Day weekend with another of our potluck dinners on our own Village Square. We roasted a pig Cuban-style, in a charcoal-filled box designed for the purpose. Delicioso, if we do say so ourselves. And the 30 friends, new and old, who added their own dishes to the feast reminded us of the fun ahead, as homes and businesses around our Square multiply and the Village grows. The truth is, though, we're already a neighborhood.

Proof of that are all the neighbors who joined in our Memorial Day festivities. Among them were the town mayor, the county sheriff, and local business owners -- plus out-of-towners and county residents who're considering future homes in Sanctuary Village. The gathering underlined the reason we're so confident about emerging from the current recession with our dream of community intact.  We're honoring the age-old admonition about the three most important factors in real estate value: Location, location, location.

We have the unique advantage of the best location in Western North Carolina for those folks who desire an active in-town lifestyle, a neighborhood where you can walk to restaurants, stores, and friends' homes in a matter of minutes. Those are the amenities we're offering. And, no matter when the economy kicks back in, no matter how fast the Village expands, those community amenities are assured, because they're already in place. The historic Town of Franklin is already here and growing around us.

For our future Village residents, that location advantage translates into security for their investments. The promised amenity has been developing for a century and a half and will improve with the participation of citizens Franklin will welcome to the neighborhood. Realizing that, we want to make sure those of you who are ready to take the next step towards embracing the Village lifestyle get the recognition you deserve for being among the Village Founders. So we're adding to our Phase 1 plan a series of home sites we're calling Founders' Lots. Purchasers of these sites will have three years in which to build their homes, allowing time for the current period of uncertainty to give way to a more predictable economic environment. The Village location already reduces some of the risk of investing. Now, the Founders’ Lot program makes it easier to reserve your place with confidence.

Of course, we're still offering the full array of home and lot packages, the unique live-work units around the Square, and the lock-and-leave security of condo apartments in our Mansion Flats building . And we're proud to show you the three-story single-family idea home we've already built on the Square.

I'd love to explain more about our plans and answer any questions you might have. So give me a call. And by all means, come enjoy the summer with us.

Sincerely,

Tim and Iva Ryan
Town Founders
