Sanctuary Communities Newsletter

Best wishes for a joyous 2011.

Those wishes have special meaning this year and are delivered with an especially hopeful tone of voice. Economists tell us we’re finally headed out of the nation’s Great Recession, and signs of a reawakening in our neck of the woods are unmistakable.

Even with all the uncertainty, folks we know have started new businesses on Franklin’s Main Street. And we’re greeting more and more visitors who tell us they’re more anxious than ever to make the move to life in the mountains.

With so much dismal news over the last couple of years, isn’t it nice to get back to planning for the future, to assembling the community we want to live in for the rest of our lives?

We were reminded how important that sort of planning is during our Christmas snow storm. Like much of the Southeast, we experienced record cold and snow in Franklin. It was spectacularly beautiful. But it was also a problem for those living in the more remote sections of our county. Many needed help digging their way out.

Here in the Village, however, we got the best of both worlds. There was the picture post card snowfall to enjoy. And because Sanctuary Village is nestled among Franklin’s in-town neighborhoods a few blocks off Main Street, we had the security of uninterrupted access to stores and services and immediate street cleaning by town workers. We could enjoy the Christmas gift of a landscape painted white without the worry of navigating the ice and slush.

Another reward for in-town living and another affirmation of the vision behind Sanctuary Village.

We’re looking forward to showing you what we’re building here together. So let us know when you’re headed this way. Mountain life is exactly as you remember it – and maybe a little better. Come and see.
