Sanctuary Communities Newsletter

We’re trying to keep ourselves from celebrating spring prematurely. After several weeks of wet and cold weather, the skies turned blue, the sun came out, and the temperatures hit the 60s here in Sanctuary Village.

It’s a tease, of course. It will be another month before flowers begin leaping out of the ground for real – and we really do have glorious springs here in the mountains.

What the warmer weather has allowed, though, is for us to make some good progress with our Market Street Plaza. The foundation is in, we have a couple of gas street lamps up and next week we will start the final work on what will soon be a very special gathering spot. It’s a pleasure to look out from our dining room window and see our plans coming together.

Looking out the window, in fact, has become one of our joys. Our new home here on Market Street is rewarding us with exactly the feeling we expected when we worked with Allison Ramsey architects and Haven Homes on the design of this first Idea Home  in Sanctuary Village. In January, we moved our family from our beloved mountain farm  into the just-completed home and expected it would take a while to accustom ourselves to in-town living. But we’re already luxuriating in the experience, especially with the warmer weather allowing for walks with our dogs around Franklin’s historic Main Street district (just 5 blocks from SV) and informal gatherings on our new porch and in our cozy dining room.  We can’t wait for more neighbors.

Adding to our excitement is word that our first house in the Village has just been certified as the first HealthyBuilt Home in the Town of Franklin. That means we hit our goal of offering not only state-of-the-art in design for neighborly living in the mountains but also state-of-the-art in environmental responsibility and energy efficiency. All of our houses in the Village will aim for North Carolina’s HealthyBuilt Home certification.

We’re still a month or so away from staging open houses to show off our Idea Home, but we’re already getting so much interest locally and from folks visiting the region, we want to offer chances for early peeks. Give us a call if you want to arrange a personal tour. We’ll set up an appointment.

We think you’ll enjoy the view from our dining room window, too, and imagine the Village unfolding before your eyes.
